Attendance Automation ADDS VALUE To Human Resources

What comes to mind when Human Resource (HR) is mentioned? The majority links HR to recruitment, staff administration and payroll, which is not wrong but HR tasks today are no longer limited these roles only. The scope of HR now is larger and crucial in facilitating the strategic development of an organization. Hence, companies need to find ways to figure out the technology that can help with improving the process in this particular area.

Timesheet calculation, payroll and report is just one part of the HR scope, however this task takes up a large chunk of the HR department’s time and priorities due to its intricacy, labor-intensive, time-consuming and time-sensitive nature, which leaves HR with less time and concentration to tackle other issues such as training and development, performance improvement, business sustenance, employee satisfaction, conflict resolution among other various tasks.

Zero Time Tolerance Policy Makes Employees (Really) Unhappy

What’s your company policy when it comes to time tolerance? If you don’t know this, please check your Employee Handbook or talk to your HR person because as a rule of thumb, you should be aware of the rules and policy of your company. However, if you company has not established any rules or policy on time tolerance, it’s time to get cracking because it is THE monitoring tool to curb indiscipline in your workforce. In other words, determine the formula in time management so everyone is evaluated at a level playing field.

Nonetheless, while drafting this policy, a company should avoid being overly stringent in their time management because of one very apparent human factor. A superior could always say “The work time starts at 9 so I don’t care what drama revolves around you, you need to get here on time at 9:00 or you are considered late”, but considerations have to be evaluated in separate cases. The policy could be airtight and help save the company a few extra dollars but would that benefit the company in a long run? One has to consider the excuse of the tardiness no matter how cliché and trivial it may sound.

Determining The Rules and Compliance For An Effective Workforce Management

Friday, January 02, 2015 TimeTec 0 Comments

Business owners can choose to be conventionally rigid or exceptionally casual in the way they run their operations. While one office is restricted to only suits and ties and working around defined cubicles, the other is given the liberty to dress with the likes of t-shirts, polos and jeans around an open concept office space. However, when it comes to managing the workforce, it is essential for a company to understand the rules, regulations and requirements to avoid non-compliance that could spell disaster for your organization’s finances and reputations.

There are at least two sets of rules and compliance in which a workforce management system has to adhere to in order to be effective. Company’s rules and regulations must be clearly defined and communicated across to the employees, for example: an employee must work 5 days a week for at least 8 hours per day and he/she cannot exceed 60 hours a week in work hours and overtime hours combined. An employee must notify the employer within 2 hours about his absence from work before it is considered as absent without leave.

There’s More to Attendance Than Just Time

What is the best trait that a company could ask for an employee? It’s dependability. An employee who is reliable is very much an asset to the company than any other traits. As an employer, ask yourself which one is preferable? Having an excellent employee who is always not punctual and always absent or an average employee who is always available at the office, ready at your disposal. The thing is, the company cannot depend on someone who isn’t at work. Therefore, it’s safe to say that attendance is highly valued to other metrics such as productivity and quality.

In the service industry for example, attendance is critical. Your front liners are the face of the brand and the absence of anybody must be replaced without fail. Hotels need to have receptionists, concierge staff, housekeeping personnel, restaurants, and etc. to run smoothly, failure to show up at work could turn into a crisis in the service industry. In the airline industry, airplanes need routine check up and servicing, people onboard need to be served, crews must be present! Absence of any staff must be replaced immediately without failure. Think about hospitals, factories, government bodies, and many more, the importance of attendance is second to none.
